The drum making ceremony begins like this:

1) People start to gather and get comfortable.
2) Smudging and prayer ceremony is offered to the group.
3) A talking stick is passed around the group A question is asked “Why do you seek the teachings of the drum ?”
4) A group demonstration and teaching of lacing the drum with a vinyl drum head.
5) The group then laces the vinyl drum head before the real thing.
6) Once the group is comfortable with the lacing, they start lacing the real thing.

Sun Wheel Festival

This year we have a least one Pagan Band  (Raven’s Call) and are finishing details on a contract with a Pagan Singer/Song Writer from the Seattle area.  Working though the process we had an opportunity to refine our focus a bit, while remaining a Pagan Festival for Western Canada with Pagan workshops, we acknowledge that Pagans tend to be intensely creative people and have a wide range of skills.   Recognizing this we are focusing a little more on the arts side.  I hope that this Festival will feed the creative Pagan soul. This year besides the Pagan Singer (to be announced once we have finalized the details) and Raven’s Call, there will be a workshop on sacred dance/movement. I would love to find someone who could do an art workshop or perhaps a mask making workshop.  If you know anyone of that persuasion please let me know or encourage this person to volunteer.

Date: June 29th  – July 2nd , 2012
